Consider these Giving Options
Stock & Securities
Gifts of securities, common stock or mutual funds can yield a double tax benefit. Gifts of appreciated securities offer potential capital gains tax savings. In addition, you typically receive a charitable deduction for the value of the securities contributed.
Retirement Assets
You can name the GLLT as beneficiary of an IRA, 401(k) or other form of qualified retirement plan account. Income tax and estate tax are avoided when this type of asset is paid directly to the GLLT.
Donor Advised Funds (DAF)
You can create a charitable investment account for the sole purpose of support charitable organizations you care about.
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD)
QCDs allow individuals who are 70½ years old or older to donate up to $105,000 total to one or more charities directly from a taxable IRA instead of taking their required minimum distributions.
Legacy Gifts
A gift of cash, securities or real estate can be made to the GLLT in your will and ensure that your vision for the region carries on. While you receive no current income tax deduction, the value of the cash or property left to the GLLT reduces the amount of your estate subject to estate taxes.
If you are considering making a legacy gift – or have already done so – please let us know so that we can support and thank you. You may let us know of your intentions while remaining anonymous to the public.Additionally, the GLLT considers gifts of land or conservation easements. Note that lands do not have to have conservation value to benefit the land trust. Contact us to learn more.
Donating conservation lands to GLLT is an excellent way for you or your family to contribute directly to the mission of the GLLT and the long term well being of the communities of the Kezar Lake, Kezar River and Cold River watersheds.
With assistance from your tax and legal advisors, we encourage you to carefully consider how one or more of these opportunities can work for you and your family.
