More about Conservation Easements
Leaving a legacy of conserved land requires thoughtful planning about the present and future, as well as consideration of the financial and legal implications for you and your family. GLLT is a resource for understanding options and preparing a conservation approach that balances your wishes with the land trust’s mission.
The process begins with a conversation and visit to your property.
we will Help you consider:
your land conservation goals
the special features of your property
the future ownership of your land.
And work through Questions, such as:
Do you wish to protect the whole or a portion of your property?
Will any structures to be included or permitted?
What are the priority conservation values?
What is your family’s shared vision for your land?
Together we determine if a conservation easement is the appropriate tool for accomplishing your goals and contributing to the land trust’s mission.
STEWARDSHIP Contribution
As the easement holder, GLLT is legally responsible for upholding easement terms and making sure the conservation values are protected FOREVER, and we ask that landowners contribute to these long term costs.
